it looks like an emptiness

in places there should be people.

there’s schools, parks, malls, offices;

there’s cities, airports, stadiums, hotels, prisons, and suburbs.

representations of humanity with no human origin.

it looks slightly outdated, but not antique;

it is uncanny nostalgia.

it is familiar and unknown.

spaces of silhouettes and echoes.

it feels supernatural, like a dimension mimicking our own;

it feels like somewhere you’ve been many times in your memory, twisted by time;

it feels like somewhere that doesn’t exist at all.

it feels like a real connection to the past.

chaotic architecture devoid of meaning.

a deserted structure that serves no one;

a surreal dreamscape we can escape into.

inviting, eroding.

eerie and disquieting.

it is emptiness, expressing the silence between memories.

it is inviting.

birthday parties, fun houses, theme parks, arcades, and bowling alleys.

it is color without saturation,

it lacks the luster of the real thing.

outside with no natural sunlight.

no beginning or end.

it folds in on itself.

it goes on forever yet its claustrophobic angles crush you in.

it feels like a skybox in a video game and spiraling into the abyss.

it reflects how places die.
